No gnocchi jokes today (maybe)
Gnocchi, gnocchi!
"Who's there?"
Okay, I'm not going there, wherever that is!!! I heard it said there's no "there" there.
Yours truly drove for 8 hours yesterday, most of it in driving rain, heavy wind and increasingly lowered visibility. When I finally got in the door of our house it was to discover a serious plumbing problem that arose while we weren't even home. I am not full of the milk of human kindness this morning (as the plumber in the basement has his meter running full tilt), but I am determined to have a tasty one-dish dinner. Yes, the gnocchi are the shelf-stable kind found near the pasta at the supermarket, but they are pretty good. The shrimp are one of my specialties. I should be called "Iron Chef Shrimp." (Okay, okay, I'm bragging. But as my grandma used to say, "If you don't blow your own horn, no one's going to blow it for you.) So I've spent much of the day so far in my van, tooting to the heavens. Only consequence is the summons I got for disturbing the peace. Just cook the shrimp however you like them, wilt the arugula and/or spinach (I used both), and boil the gnocchi according to the package directions. Dress with some butter and olive oil (and maybe garlic and parsley?) and have another martini.

That is a fab meal I say. Sorry to hear about the plumbing issue.
I love your grandma's quote. It is very true indeed.
And yes, as recommended, I'm gonna have another martini.
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas day :)
Simple and perfect.. can't go wrong there! Love gnocchi, but of course, you know how is not a fan of it's texture :( I'll have to make this on one of those "fend for yourself" nights!
Sorry to hear about the plumbing, not the best way to come back from a trip. Hope it is taken care of soon... so yes, go have another martini while you wait!!!
Sometimes you just gotta "toot" your own horn! It sounds like it was worth it! Love these simple yet oh - so - good one pot meal. Oh, plumbing issues stink, hope you can get it fixed.
Yum! It sounds good to me. Maybe you and plumber should've tried the barter system.
There would have been several plumber jokes that would have fit here perfectly too...such as the lawyer who quit practice to become a plumber because the pay was better :)
I love having a package of gnocchi in the house ready to boil for an easy meal. This sounds delicious.
oh sorry to hear about the plumbing love meals like this and love the joke ;-)
The gnocchi looks fabulous, but the drive sounded like hell!! Hope your weekend is peaceful. :)
Sounds like a wonderful meal after a ghastly day, hope all plumbing issues are sorted. This is going to be on the menu this week - scrumptious

You are hilarious here. Sorry about the crumby plumbing but the rest is funny. A lot of tootin' going on.
Pure heaven!
Hi Stephen, I'm so sorry to hear about your plumbing problems. We had a MAJOR issue last year with our septic system . . . enough said!
Your gnocchi & shrimp dish looks like the perfect comfort food to take the edge off the plumbing bill.
Oh, the beach in my post is Old Orchard Beach, Maine. We have a little cottage there. It's very "honky tonk" but it's got 7 miles of sandy beach and it's FUN!!!
Happy New Year!
Mary
love gnocchi! Fried gnocchi, even more! Sorry to hear about the plumbing; you deserve the martini. Happy new year stephen!
Mmm, YUM! I'm more than happy to hear any joke over these delicious babies! Happy New Year!
Sorry about your bad start to the new year - I'm really glad you could improve it so much with this delicious dinner.
Hope the rest of the year is plumbing problem free for you!!
